The Take Back 5 Series

What would you do if you could take back 5 hours a week?

You became a principal to lead people, not to live in your inbox. Australian school leaders are working longer hours than ever, and the gap between the leader you want to be and the one you have time to be keeps growing. There's a way out. And it starts with taking back five hours a week.

The Real Problem

You're in the building.
But are you really present?

You became a principal to lead people: to walk through classrooms, to be present for your students, to grow your staff, and to build something that outlasts you. Instead, most of your day is spent at a desk. Writing the newsletter. Answering emails. Drafting communications that take far longer than they should.

"The oxygen mask principle: you cannot authentically lead your people into an AI future without first developing your own AI fluency."

No one is training school leaders for this moment. The pace of change is accelerating whether you're ready or not, and the principals who wait will find the gap between them and their teams impossible to close.

Andy Rankin spent 15 years as a principal in Sydney. He knows exactly what's keeping you at your desk, and exactly what it takes to change it. Using AI is a core part of that change. The first step is knowing where you stand.

Reclaim 5 hours a week

Through disciplined productivity strategies and purposeful AI use, you identify exactly where your time is being lost, and systematically get it back. Not someday. This week.

5
The 5 that matter most

Your students, your staff, your community, your family, and yourself. Reclaiming your time means reinvesting it in the people and relationships your leadership depends on.

Head for home by 5

Work-life balance isn't a luxury for school leaders; it's a leadership strategy. When you leave at a sustainable hour, you show up tomorrow as a better version of yourself.

"In an AI world, your presence is your most valuable asset, and AI is how you get it back."
